Law prohibits Fortune-Telling

According to the latest news in Nebraska regarding the recent regulations that has been proclaimed in terms of astrology reading, ACLU Nebraska Legal Director Amy Miller cited an ordinance that prohibits "psychic readings, clairvoyance, fortune telling and divination.” However in accordance to the report Scottsbluff Police Chief Alex Moreno doesn't remember ever implementing an order that drew a warning of a lawsuit from the ACLU of Nebraska.

From the statement of Miller that has been released that some citizen contacted the group to learn more whether any person possibly will be prosecuted under the law. The non-profit organization gets in touch with the city to advise that the law is unconstitutional.

“No matter what your personal opinion about tarot card readings or fortune telling, the right to free speech protects the right of people to engage in those activities,” Miller said.

Nevertheless the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals strike down Lincoln's law in opposition to paranormal business in 1998, ruling there was no convincing grounds for the government to give perimeter to astrology, psychic reading and fortune telling. In this regulation means that Scottsbluff needs to change their local ordinance, and we've reached out to them to make sure they're aware of the law.
